Photos of your off-grid cottage and sur...Hi Linda,<br /><br />Photos of your off-grid cottage and surroundings look remarkably like familiar scenes of Northern Wisconsin, in the USA. The upper Midwest was settled by Scandinavian and German immigrants (among others) during the 19th and early 20th centuries, so perhaps the similarities are not merely coincidental. The forests look the same. Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota have thousands of clear-water glacial lakes, formed (like the Great Lakes, themselves) in the last ice age.
